The Life or Meth: What’s the Cost? methamphetamine education program is a
five
lesson, CD-ROM or Internet based curriculum enhancement designed for young
people
at the 5th, or 6th grade level, but could be used by older students (7th or
8th grade). You
are encouraged to preview each lesson prior to implementation to determine
whether the
program is age appropriate for your audience. Each lesson is approximately
15 minutes
long, allowing time for activities, discussion and supplemental activities.
Some lessons
can be completed in a traditional 40-45 minute school class period; other
lessons may
need additional time for completion.

Life or Meth lessons contain multimedia video and audio and may take a few minutes to download. Please be patient.
56k or less modem users please click on the low bandwidth version of the lesson that you would like to view. DSL/Cable/LAN users may select the high bandwidth versions to experience better quality audio and video.
The minimum screen resolution to view Life or Meth on the web is 1024x768.
To change the screen resolution:
Windows users: Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties to display the property sheet for the desktop. Click the "Settings" tab and slide the "Screen Area" pointer to 1024 by 768.
Macintosh Users:
8.x -9.x:Select the "Monitors" or "Monitors and Sound" control panel under the Apple menu and select 1024x768 in the "Resolution" section of the control panel.
OS X: Select System Preferences in the Dock. Click "Displays" and select 1024x768 under "Resolutions"
Life or Meth Lessons require Javascript be enabled to launch. If a window does not open, please follow the instructions for your browser below.
Internet Explorer 6
- Select the "Internet Options..." menu item in the "Tools" menu.
- Click on the "Security" tab at the top of the Internet Options window that pops up.
- From the list of zones at the top of the Security options select the internet icon.
- Select the button near the bottom that reads "Custom Level".
- In the new window that pops up, scroll down to the item that reads "Active Scripting". Select the option marked "Enable".
- Click on the "Ok" button at the bottom of the Security Settings window.
- Click on the "Ok" button at the bottom of the Internet Options window.
Internet Explorer 5.x
- Select the "Internet Options..." menu item in the "Tools" menu.
- Click on the "Security" tab at the top of the Internet Options window that pops up.
- From the list of zones at the top of the Security options select the internet icon.

- In the new window that pops up, scroll down to the item that reads "Active Scripting".

- Select the "Preferences..." menu item in the "Edit" menu.
- Click on the "Advanced" label displayed in the list of options on the left hand side of the Preferences window that pops up.
- On the right hand side select the checkbox marked "Enable Javascript for Navigator".
- Click on the "Ok" button at the bottom of the Preferences window.
Netscape 4.x
- Select the "Preferences..." menu item in the "Edit" menu.
- Click on the "Advanced" label displayed in the list of options on the left hand side of the Preferences window that pops up.
- On the right hand side select the checkbox marked "Enable Javascript".
- Click on the "Ok" button at the bottom of the Preferences window.
To download either the Low Bandwidth or High Bandwidth version of the lesson, click on "Download this lesson"
or right click "download this lesson" and then click "Save Target As...".
WinZip is required to extract the lesson for PC and StuffitExpander for Mac.
Each compressed file is anywhere from 13mb to 58mb, so please expect high
download times depending on your connection.
Once the file is unzipped, select File in your browser's menu,
then select Open from the menu,then browse to launch.html and click Open.
